Facilities Technician – HVAC

About the role

Join Applied Materials in Gloucester, MA as a Facilities Technician focused on HVAC systems. You will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of HVAC equipment supporting cleanroom, laboratory, and manufacturing environments.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems including air handlers, make‑up air units, exhaust systems, and controls.
• Perform broader facility maintenance such as mechanical repairs, minor electrical work, plumbing, and building repairs within your training.
• Support cleanroom and manufacturing HVAC requirements for airflow, temperature, humidity, and pressurization.
• Use CMMS (IBM Maximo) to manage work orders, preventive maintenance, and asset history.
• Utilize building automation systems (Johnson Controls Niagara) for monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate and oversee HVAC contractors and ensure detailed vendor reports.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation for after‑hours and emergency support.

Required profile

• Active Massachusetts HVAC License (commercial/industrial) and MA Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification.
• 7–10 years of facilities maintenance experience with a strong HVAC focus.
• Proven technical troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently.
• Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with HVAC systems, RTUs, split systems, chillers, boilers, and BAS.
• Familiarity with CMMS platforms such as IBM Maximo.
• Experience with Johnson Controls Niagara building automation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
