Executive Director – Non-linear Rates Trader (CIB)

About the role

Santander is looking for an Executive Director to lead its non‑linear rates trading desk within the U.S. Corporate Investment Banking division. The role focuses on building and running the USD rates options business, covering US clients and collaborating with global partners.

Key responsibilities

• Price, quote, and trade USD rates options (non‑linear products) with competitive pricing and disciplined risk‑taking.
• Partner with the European USD rates options team to expand US client coverage and establish a stand‑alone desk in New York.
• Work with Sales and Structuring to grow the USD options franchise.
• Collaborate with global trading partners for cross‑regional risk transfer and market continuity.
• Lead enhancements to desk infrastructure, including pricing tools, risk analytics, market data workflows, and automation.
• Coordinate with Quant, Technology, and Risk teams to improve model implementation, calibration, and control environments.
• Ensure compliance with governance, limits, policies, and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Significant experience trading rates options or other non‑linear rates products, with a proven ability to manage risk and generate P&L.
• Demonstrated capability in systems development.
• Strong quantitative intuition and comfort working closely with models and analytics.
• Excellent communication skills and a client‑oriented mindset, supporting US client coverage.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced trading environment with strong ownership and accountability.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; FINRA certificates preferred.
