About the role

The Louisiana State University seeks an innovative and experienced leader to serve as Executive Director of the newly created Energy Institute. This senior position will guide the institute’s research, education, outreach, and policy initiatives to strengthen Louisiana’s energy posture and support the global energy transition.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and align research, education, outreach, technology, and policy activities with the institute’s strategic vision, emphasizing Louisiana’s energy challenges.
• Oversee the Louisiana Geological Survey, ensuring its work supports the broader mission of the Energy Institute.
• Design, facilitate, and manage a collaborative, campus‑wide sponsored research program that drives innovation, workforce development, and measurable societal impact.
• Act as the institute’s spokesperson, building relationships with public agencies, government officials, NGOs, industry partners, and the public.
• Lead the development of policy recommendations and workforce‑training initiatives that advance the state’s energy transition.

Required profile

• Proven executive‑level experience in energy research, policy, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to lead interdisciplinary teams and manage large‑scale research programs.
