Entry-Level Ophthalmic Technician – Training Provided

About the role

Austin Retina Associates is seeking compassionate individuals to join their ophthalmic team in San Marcos and South Austin. No prior ophthalmic experience is required – full training will be provided to help you support physicians and protect patients' vision.

Key responsibilities

• Gather patient medical history, chief complaint, and perform basic eye assessments (visual acuity, IOP, pupillary checks, ocular motility, blood pressure).
• Prepare exam rooms, manage patient charts, and assist physicians during clinical procedures.
• Perform macular OCT and other retinal imaging as needed.
• Communicate with patients before and after visits, providing education and support.
• Assist with in‑office procedures and help recruit patients for clinical trials when available.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate demeanor.
• Reliable U.S. driver’s license and willingness to travel locally using company‑provided transportation.
• Ability to work irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional overtime.

Required skills

• Basic ophthalmic assessment techniques (visual acuity, IOP measurement, pupillary dilation).
• Macular OCT and retinal imaging operation.
• Proficiency with multiple computer systems (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Teams, data entry tools).
