Enterprise Architect – Financial & Healthcare Systems

About the role

Fathom Management is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to design and modernize complex financial and healthcare systems for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The role blends hands‑on architecture, cloud infrastructure, and legacy modernization across both technical and business domains.

Key responsibilities

• Develop enterprise, solution, application, infrastructure, and integration architectures for healthcare and financial systems.
• Design Azure cloud infrastructure, VM sizing, and perform cost analysis using Azure Cost Calculator.
• Architect EDI/X12 transaction flows (270/271, 276/277, 820) using IBM Sterling B2B Integrator.
• Create migration and modernization roadmaps from legacy/mainframe environments to Red Hat OpenShift containers.
• Produce architecture documentation, logical/physical diagrams, and business‑case presentations for executive stakeholders.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship and a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
• 10+ years of enterprise/solution architecture experience, including healthcare payer or financial systems.
• Hands‑on experience with Azure, IBM Sterling B2B Integrator, EDI/X12, iFAMS, and Red Hat OpenShift.
• Proven ability to communicate technical concepts and business value to senior leadership.
