Engineering Specialist - HVAC

About the role

Loews Hotels at Universal Orlando is hiring an Engineering Specialist to support and maintain the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems across the property. The role covers troubleshooting, repairs, scheduled maintenance and system installations under minimal supervision, and suits a mechanically skilled person who works independently and responds quickly to service requests.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair commercial heating, air conditioning, pumps and building exhaust systems
• Diagnose and fix malfunctions by inspecting controls, wiring, motors, expansion valves and electronic components
• Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections, adjusting, cleaning and calibrating systems
• Repair or replace mechanical and electrical components such as coils, motors, valves and sensors
• Repair digital and pneumatic HVAC control systems and balance air and water treatment systems
• Correct condensation, humidity and ventilation issues and check performance indicators like velocity, volume, temperature and pressure
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal safety codes and building regulations
• Respond to emergency service calls, prepare tool and supply requests, and supervise daily work orders for crew members
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow housekeeping and safety procedures

Required profile

• At least 2 years of direct experience with HVAC systems, including troubleshooting, repair and maintenance
• Valid state driver's license
• Ability to interpret written, oral and diagram instructions and to write brief reports and technical documentation
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Effective verbal English communication with guests, vendors and colleagues
• Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with HVAC systems, controls and repair techniques
• Digital and pneumatic HVAC control systems and building automation systems
• EPA Universal-CFC certification
