Embedded Software Engineer (Lighting)

About the role

We are looking for an innovative Embedded Software Engineer to develop and integrate lighting systems for Rivian and Volkswagen Group vehicle platforms. The role involves creating software for both exterior and interior lighting, adding creative graphics and animation features, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop C code for lighting systems and implement graphics/animation features for special events.
• Write test cases and scripts for unit, SIL and HIL testing environments.
• Build desktop tooling (full‑stack, JavaScript, Rust) to visualize lighting animations.
• Own lighting features from design through development, testing and calibration.
• Collaborate on simulation models, conduct design reviews and integrate features into controller code.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Systems or related field.
• At least 1 year of experience with automotive control systems or embedded software.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% as needed.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
• Experience with JavaScript and Rust for desktop tooling.
• Familiarity with model‑based design using Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow.
• Ability to work with cross‑functional teams and create test scripts.
