Electrical Project Engineer (Experienced Professional)

About the role

American Synthetic Rubber Company, a supplier of synthetic rubber with 80 years of history and a location on the outskirts of Louisville, Kentucky, is hiring an experienced Electrical Project Engineer. The engineer completes the electrical and automation parts of large capital projects supporting plant capital execution and plant technical support, and helps management with pre-studies of deployment and development projects in the EE / Automation field.

Key responsibilities

• Complete design studies, follow procurement and fabrication of equipment, and lead installation, commissioning and startup of equipment in an industrial plant environment.
• Manage design studies for industrial electrical equipment and low/high voltage installations for customer projects, ensuring adherence to specifications, local regulations, performance and cost.
• Provide detailed electrical design and automation programming for assigned projects.
• Provide estimates and technical schedules for adding, replacing or upgrading process equipment.
• Support and train plant maintenance teams on new automation systems.
• Collaborate with internal support groups and provide contract engineering management and direction when needed.
• Take part in major capital projects and modifications from start to finish, including equipment reception, commissioning and acceptance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electro-mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
• Preferred minimum of 3 years of engineering experience.
• Minimal travel, 5-10% maximum.
• Project team leadership or project management experience preferred but not required.

Required skills

• Knowledge of electrical design standards and ability to design controls systems with standard CAD tools.
• PLC programming standards and software, including GRAFCET, Ladder Logic and Structured Text; Rockwell (Allen-Bradley) and Siemens experience is a plus.
• Variable frequency drives and motion control; Rockwell, Siemens and Control Techniques experience is a plus.
• HMI configuration, programming and communication; Rockwell experience is a plus.
• Controls network interfaces and communication protocols; vision system configuration (Cognex, Keyence, Adept, Bytewise, Gocator) and robotic experience (Fanuc, ABB) are a plus.
