Economist – Ramp Economics Lab

About the role

Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams and needs an economist to lead the Ramp AI Index and expand its research. You will own the economics function, develop new metrics, and translate data into actionable insights for customers and policymakers.

Key responsibilities

• Own and expand the Ramp AI Index, adding metrics on token spend and AI ROI.
• Produce rigorous, public‑facing analysis and visualisations for press, researchers, and business leaders.
• Build a customer‑facing economics function, presenting insights to CFOs and finance teams.
• Extend research internationally and collaborate with the lead economist.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of industry experience as a Data Scientist or Economist.
• Strong perspectives on AI economics, economic policy, and ability to write for non‑academic audiences.
• Proven track record of delivering high‑quality research under tight timelines.

Required skills

• SQL (Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery) and efficient query writing.
• BI tools such as Looker, Omni, Sigma, Hex.
• Experience with modern data stack components (Fivetran, dbt, Hightouch).
