About the role
The Early Head Start Teacher works within United Way’s Early Learning Center to support the development of children from birth to three years old. The role focuses on fostering social and emotional growth while engaging families in the program, ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver age‑appropriate activities using the provided curriculum and Head Start outcomes.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing classroom environment for children and families.
- Collaborate with the Center Manager and other staff to meet all regulatory and quality standards.
- Encourage and facilitate parent participation in center‑based programs and activities.
- Document children’s progress and adhere to Head Start Performance Standards and United Way policies.
- Assist with the transportation of materials and occasional lifting of items up to 40 lb.
Required profile
- Demonstrated knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and early childhood best practices.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with families and promote their involvement.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain records and a clean learning environment.
- Physical ability to handle classroom materials and occasional lifting.
