Distribution Center Assistant General Manager

About the role

The DC Assistant General Manager is responsible for the success of all operational functions within a large distribution center of about 500,000+ square feet, making it an outstanding place to work. The role supervises a large team of DC Operations Managers covering Inbound, Warehouse, Outbound and Office Operations, and works with the General Manager to set strategies and objectives that maximize productivity and control expenses. It reports to the DC General Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager in evaluating and recommending improvements to work methods, procedures, controls and staffing to ensure accurate, timely product movement and processing.
• Recommend financial, operational, people and process objectives to drive continuous improvement and efficiency gains, and may lead the management of a 3PL provider depending on the DC.
• Ensure operational excellence across warehouse areas, including efficient use of warehouse management systems, safe and efficient receiving and processing, proper layout and maintenance.
• Coach, train and develop the management team, provide performance-based feedback and maintain a union-free workplace.
• Enforce safety policies and monitor safety, physical security and operational metrics daily, weekly and monthly.

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or GED; preferred bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Business or Supply Chain.
• Preferred: previous change management experience, proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and ability to work weekends, holidays and on call.
