Director, Oncology Forecasting (Global Pan-Tumor)

About the role

MSD's Market Access, Insights & Forecasting (MAI&F) team is looking for a Director, Oncology Forecasting (Global Pan-Tumor) to lead the development of strategic forecasts for a range of products and indications, interpret their implications, develop insights and communicate them to the business so that marketing strategy can be acted upon. The role works closely with Digital Human Health functions such as Market Research, Data Science and Payer Analytics, and with Global and Regional Marketing, Market Access and Finance. It is based in Rahway, NJ and Upper Gwynedd on a hybrid basis.

Key responsibilities

• Determine the forecast modeling approaches, tools and techniques for each asset and/or indication
• Partner with Marketing Engagement, Market Research, Data Science, Payer Analytics and other DHH functions to define insight strategies and plans
• Lead the team in running forecasting cycles aligned with the company's enterprise forecasting process
• Use the Forecasting digital tool, guide coding experts in implementing the forecasting flow and explain results to stakeholders
• Keep the business informed on actual performance against forecast and its drivers
• Align with Marketing, Market Access and Finance on inputs, outputs and insights for each cycle
• Apply trend-based forecasting, scenario analysis, Monte Carlo analysis and other methods to support business decisions
• Build a team of strategic forecasters and foster their development
• Partner and influence colleagues in a matrixed organization, including US and India-based teams, and drive clear communication on the forecasting process
• Mentor, coach and lead teams, including those with dotted reporting lines, and promote diversity, inclusion and equity

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in a related discipline; MBA, Master's or Doctorate in Engineering, Public Health, Biological Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or Medical Sciences preferred
• Minimum 8-10+ years delivering complex analytical projects in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry using market research and/or large patient or physician databases
• Experience developing forecast models and extracting forecasting insights
• Direct-line management experience preferred, leading teams of Directors, Associate Directors, Senior Specialists and analysts
• Experience leading cross-functional pods and diverse groups, and managing ambiguity

Required skills

• Ability to break down business questions into testable hypotheses and requirements
• Strong communication, problem-solving and organizational skills in a matrixed environment

Preferred: therapeutic area experience in oncology, vaccines or pharma/rare; advanced forecasting experience with patient-based and trend-based models; consultative business partner experience; prior experience in Marketing, Market Access, Finance, Market Research, Data Science or Payer Analytics. Travel under 20% may be required.
