Director of Supply Chain

About the role

Barber‑Nichols is seeking a Director of Supply Chain to provide strategic leadership for its supply chain organization. The role oversees strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier development, supplier quality, and supply chain business systems, ensuring the company can support rapid technology development and production across aerospace, defense, space, and energy markets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute an enterprise‑wide supply chain strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
• Establish performance metrics for cost, quality, delivery, inventory, and supplier performance.
• Lead talent development, coaching, and succession planning within the supply chain team.
• Manage supply chain risk, business continuity, and continuous‑improvement initiatives using Lean principles and digital transformation.
• Collaborate with executive leadership on growth, capacity, and capital planning.
• Build high‑performing supplier partnerships, dual‑source strategies, and value‑engineering initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in supply chain, strategic sourcing, or procurement within highly engineered, low‑volume manufacturing environments.
• Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution.
• Strong track record of building collaborative relationships across functions and with external suppliers.
• Experience driving continuous‑improvement programs and digital transformation in supply chain processes.
