Director of Standards – Aviation Training

About the role

The Director of Standards (DOS) leads the quality assurance and continuous improvement of FlightSafety International’s training programs. Reporting to senior leadership, the DOS ensures that all instructional delivery meets the highest standards for safety, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise new‑hire instructors during their onboarding period to guarantee competency.
• Conduct random Quality Assurance observations of all pilot instructors and report findings to the Director of Training.
• Provide resources and guidance to instructors to support effective customer training.
• Maintain instructor qualifications in line with FlightSafety processes, regulatory requirements, and the Instructor Performance Standards.
• Ensure Learning Center compliance with internal policies and external regulations through regular audits.
• Act as a ground or flight (simulator/aircraft) instructor when needed.
• Schedule and oversee new‑hire instructor training, assign mentors, and monitor progress.
• Develop and implement in‑house programs to enhance instructor teaching skills.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in aviation training or a related instructional environment.
• Proven ability to lead quality assurance initiatives and mentor instructional staff.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory standards governing pilot training.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
