Director of Revenue Accounting

About the role

Lead the operational core of BILL's financial close function as Director of Revenue Accounting. You will own end‑to‑end revenue accounting, drive automation, and shape the next‑generation accounting infrastructure for a fast‑growing fintech.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily revenue accounting operations, ensuring ASC 606 compliance across all product lines.
• Own the monthly, quarterly and annual revenue close cycle, including journal entries, reconciliations and reporting for revenue, deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, rewards, cost of revenue and reserves.
• Lead accounts receivable operations, perform aging analysis and maintain audit‑ready documentation.
• Support design, implementation and testing of new core accounting systems as the subject‑matter expert.
• Drive automation of high‑volume transaction data, replacing manual processes with systemic logic.
• Hire, develop and mentor a team of operational accountants and contractors.

Required profile

• Active CPA certification with 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years leading revenue accounting at a public company.
• Hands‑on ownership of close processes for SaaS, transaction‑based fees and multi‑element arrangements.
• Deep knowledge of ASC 606, ASC 310 and ASC 326 (CECL) in an operational context.
• Proven experience managing high‑volume transactional data pipelines and collaborating with engineering teams.
• Track record as primary operational contact for external auditors, overseeing SOX controls.
