Director of Philanthropic Engagement

About the role

BBYO seeks a passionate Director of Philanthropic Engagement to secure financial support for its teen‑focused programs. You will lead relationship‑building, strategic planning, and community engagement initiatives across the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies, including prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors.
• Set and track metrics for increased giving, pipeline expansion, and securing gifts of $1,800+.
• Engage alumni, parents, and community members through campaigns such as #givingBBYOday and strategic partnerships.
• Collaborate with program staff, marketing, and communications to align fundraising with teen programming priorities.
• Manage grants, relationships with local foundations, and endowment/legacy prospects.

Required profile

• 3+ years of major‑gift development experience in a nonprofit or political campaign.
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree welcome.
• Strong storytelling, public speaking, and relationship‑building abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% for conferences and fundraising meetings.

Required skills

• Experience planning and executing fundraising events.
• Proven success developing and implementing donor acquisition and stewardship strategies.
