Director of Membership & Events

About the role

The Director of Membership & Events leads GACC South’s membership, events, and communications functions, overseeing a team of 6–8 staff and interns across the Southeast. This senior position shapes strategy to attract, engage, and retain members while delivering high‑quality programs and revenue‑generating events.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement membership, events, and communications strategies aligned with organizational goals.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of employees and interns, fostering a collaborative, high‑performing environment.
• Drive member acquisition, engagement, retention, and revenue growth; manage sponsorships and partnerships.
• Oversee event planning, execution, budgeting, vendor management, and post‑event evaluation.
• Manage departmental budgets, revenue targets, and financial performance.
• Establish KPIs, monitor performance metrics, and ensure data quality in CRM and analytics platforms.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, International Business or related field; advanced degree a plus.
• 7+ years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Proven ability to develop and execute multi‑functional strategies and lead teams.
• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship‑management skills.
• Experience with membership organizations, chambers of commerce, or similar nonprofits preferred.
