Director of First Impressions / Receptionist

About the role

IMPACT-X Performance, a fitness and recovery studio in Carmel Mountain Ranch, San Diego, is looking for a Director of First Impressions (receptionist) to manage front desk operations and be the main point of contact for visitors. The role builds rapport, handles inquiries and supports gym operations. Hours are 25-40 per week initially, with evenings and weekends required.

Key responsibilities

• Greet members, guests and prospective clients by name and give them facility tours
• Handle member and guest inquiries, concerns and complaints proactively
• Manage check-ins, guest registrations and delinquent accounts
• Make sure visitors sign liability waivers and understand safety rules
• Answer calls on a multi-line phone system and process memberships, payments, retail sales and account updates
• Keep the front desk and lobby clean and stocked, and promote membership options and promotions
• Do data entry, filing and digital scheduling, and oversee retail and ancillary recovery services
• Share announcements with members and staff, coordinate with personal training and group fitness, and manage lost and found items

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• At least 1 year of customer service or retail experience; a background in fitness, health or spa is a plus
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, professional appearance and a positive attitude
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Preferred: fitness industry experience, basic marketing and sales knowledge, and current CPR and AED certification. Applications are sent by email with a cover letter and resume; interviews begin in December and early January for a January 15 start.
