Director of Events, Office of the Provost

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a seasoned Director of Events to lead the planning, execution, and oversight of meetings and events for the Office of the Provost. This senior position reports directly to the Provost and ensures that all events align with the university’s strategic goals and community outreach objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate all amenities, accommodations, and logistics for each event.
• Monitor and control event budgets, negotiate contracts, and secure sponsorships.
• Ensure proper financial paperwork and compliance with university policies.
• Collaborate with print and broadcast media for event coverage.
• Analyze event outcomes and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Develop community relations opportunities and promote the university’s brand.
• Oversee performance of vendors, volunteers, and staff.
• Maintain internal controls and train employees on university procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in event management or a related discipline.
• Proven ability to align departmental goals with enterprise‑wide strategy.
• Strong financial management and resource allocation skills.
• Adaptability to drive transformational change.
• Experience building and leading high‑performing teams.
• Understanding of technology, data analytics, and performance measurement.
• Excellent communication and influencing abilities.
