Director, IT Security Operations

About the role

The University of Miami Health System (UHealth) IT Department seeks a full‑time Director of IT Security Operations to lead its cybersecurity incident response and security operations functions. This senior leader will oversee threat analysis, monitoring, and response activities while supporting strategic IT initiatives across the campus.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise performance management, hiring, training, evaluation, promotion, and termination of security staff.
• Manage daily security operations and direct teams to meet departmental goals.
• Develop, promote, and maintain technical standards for support services and devices.
• Design improved work systems by revising policies, procedures, and standards.
• Lead project planning, risk assessment, budgeting, vendor management, and successful project delivery.
• Oversee enterprise‑wide IT projects, ensuring timely and efficient completion.
• Contribute to strategic planning and provide short‑ and long‑term solutions for campus‑wide initiatives.
• Communicate with administration and staff to ensure efficient service delivery.
• Assess and improve internal controls, ensuring compliance with university policies.
