Director, Communications

About the role

The Director, Communications will shape Mastercard's reputation on social impact, sustainability and inclusive growth. Reporting to the SVP of Global Communications, the role partners with the Center for Inclusive Growth & Sustainability and Growth Segments teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute integrated communications strategies that highlight Mastercard’s leadership in inclusive economic growth, financial health, sustainability and social impact.
• Serve as communications partner for senior leaders, managing speaking opportunities, media interviews and thought‑leadership platforms.
• Lead storytelling for major research reports, indexes and insights, translating data into compelling narratives.
• Support global convenings such as the Global Inclusive Growth Summit, shaping event narratives, media plans and post‑event amplification.
• Manage media relations, monitor reputational risks and advise internal stakeholders on external positioning.
• Oversee sustainability communications governance, ensuring compliance with environmental claims guidelines.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in communications, social impact, corporate affairs or reputation management.
• Proven track record supporting senior executives and managing high‑profile communications programs.
• Strong understanding of corporate reputation, sustainability, public policy and stakeholder engagement.
• Exceptional writing, storytelling and content development abilities.
• Experience navigating complex stakeholder environments and approval processes.
