Diagnostic Technologist – Operating Room (Per Diem)

About the role

The Diagnostic Technologist provides high‑quality radiologic imaging in the operating room under physician direction while adhering to radiation safety standards. This per‑diem position supports surgical teams by delivering timely, accurate images and ensuring patient safety throughout procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and move imaging equipment (portable units, hybrid rooms, C‑Arms, O‑Arms) safely within the OR.
• Adjust image quality, select appropriate exposure factors, and ensure proper collimation, lead shielding, and distance.
• Prepare and operate contrast injectors under surgeon supervision, verifying settings and documenting fluoro time, mGy, and room time.
• Submit images and documentation promptly to PACS, ensuring correct patient identification within 30 minutes.
• Maintain sterile technique, follow safety precautions, and be on‑call as required.

Required profile

• Technical School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited Radiography program.
• RT – Registered Technologist Radiology license in Pennsylvania (or obtain within 180 days of hire).
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification (Pennsylvania) within 180 days.
• Ability to lift/carry 40‑50 lb and stand/walk for extended periods.

Required skills

• Operation of OR radiographic equipment (C‑Arm, O‑Arm, hybrid room, portable units).
• Radiation safety practices, including use of lead shielding and proper exposure techniques.
• Contrast injector preparation and administration.
• Image acquisition, documentation, and PACS workflow.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) proficiency.
