Development Associate

About the role

The Tanzanian Children’s Fund is seeking a personable, creative, and detail‑oriented Development Associate to join its US‑based team in Cambridge, MA. Reporting to the Director of Development and Communications, you will support fundraising, donor stewardship, grant writing, and communications to advance the organization’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Development and Communications in executing fundraising and communications strategies.
• Engage and cultivate donors, managing gifts up to $10,000 and developing a donor pipeline.
• Research, write, and edit grant proposals and reports, and track grant reporting calendars.
• Plan and coordinate fundraising tours, events, and travel logistics, and follow up with donors.
• Maintain the donor database, record gifts, and support campaign creation and online fundraising tools.
• Draft external communications, update the website, manage mailing lists, and collaborate with the Tanzania communications team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 1‑3 years of fundraising experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail‑oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
• Legal right to work in the United States.

Required skills

• Kindful donor management software.
• Mailchimp email marketing platform.
• General CRM systems for donor tracking.
