Deputy Director, Health and Human Services

About the role

The Deputy Director provides operational oversight for a range of Family Health and Family Services programs, including health services, mental health, chemical dependency, and fitness initiatives. Working closely with the HHS Director, this role supports staffing, budgeting, grants, contracts, and program improvement, and becomes eligible for a hybrid work schedule after six months of satisfactory performance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct or delegated oversight of assigned health and human services programs.
• Supervise, develop, and evaluate staff through performance management.
• Coordinate day‑to‑day operations across programs and support policy development.
• Assist with strategic planning, outcome evaluation, and budget/contract administration.
• Maintain relationships with funding agencies, partners, and healthcare vendors.
• Oversee health‑benefit administration, insurance enrollment, and third‑party arrangements.
• Use data and service trends to identify needs and recommend program improvements.
• Facilitate health‑promotion activities and coordinated access to mental health and chemical dependency services.
• Represent the HHS department at meetings, committees, and community events as delegated.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising staff and managing health‑related programs.
• Strong background in budgeting, grant administration, and contract management.
• Ability to develop policies and procedures that align with organizational goals.
• Experience collaborating with funding agencies, partners, and healthcare providers.
