Data Support Engineer – Data Reliability & Pipeline Ops

About the role

FanDuel is seeking a Data Support Engineer to maintain and enhance the health of its data pipelines and infrastructure. You will work in an agile environment, supporting analysts, data consumers, and engineering teams across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on‑call technical assistance for query optimization, reporting anomalies, pipeline failures and data inconsistencies.
• Investigate and resolve data quality issues, ensuring compliance with audit and control standards.
• Design and implement batch and real‑time pipelines to data warehouses or lakes using transformation technologies.
• Lead initiatives to improve data operations, mentor new engineers, and automate manual processes.
• Maintain technical support documentation, runbooks, and knowledge‑base articles.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 + years of data engineering experience with a focus on operational support.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset, ownership of issues through resolution, and excellent communication skills.
• Customer‑oriented attitude with attention to detail and ability to work across time zones.

Required skills

• Advanced SQL and query‑optimization experience.
• Python programming for automation and data processing.
• Cloud data platforms: AWS, Databricks, Spark.
• Data warehousing, ETL/ELT, dimensional modeling.
• Real‑time technologies: Kafka, Kinesis.
• Orchestration/monitoring tools: Airflow, Datadog, Databand, DataFold, Monte Carlo, Prometheus, Grafana.
• CI/CD for data pipelines: BuildKite, GitHub Actions.
• Data streaming tools: dbt.
• Data visualization: Tableau, Looker.
