Data Scientist - National Security Analytics

About the role

MANTECH, a provider of technology solutions to government intelligence agencies since 1968, is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Data Scientist in Fort Meade, MD. The role drives statistical analytics and cloud-based data solutions for national security objectives, working with subject matter experts and customers to move analytic development from prototype to production and prepare the way for machine learning integration into mission operations.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and contribute technical expertise across multiple data science and analytic development efforts in a secure cloud environment.
• Collaborate with customers, intelligence analysts and Subject Matter Experts to align analytic requirements with mission goals.
• Prototype and transition data pipelines and advanced analytics into scalable, operational environments.
• Apply statistical modeling, data analysis and graph-based approaches to complex datasets, preparing workflows for future machine learning applications.
• Manage individual analytic tasks and deliver high-quality technical work to meet project objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical field (statistics, mathematics, operations research, engineering, computer science, data science, physics or related) or 4 additional years of direct relevant experience.
• 7+ years of experience in a Data Scientist, Data Engineer, Data Analyst or related technical role.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Able to stay seated 50% of the time, operate computers and office equipment constantly, and communicate accurately with coworkers, management and customers, including giving presentations.

Required skills

• 7+ years using standard data analysis tools, frameworks or languages such as Python, R or SQL.
• Preferred: experience building, deploying and maintaining data workflows and pipelines in secure cloud infrastructure.
• Preferred: practical knowledge of advanced statistical modeling and machine learning, and familiarity with containerization and MLOps.

What we offer

• Projected compensation range of $141,500 to $236,000, depending on contract wage determination, experience, skills, location, education and certification.
