Customer Service Associate

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Customer Service associate in its Grimes store. Team members are the friendly face of in-store services such as mailing packages, sending money, cashing checks and buying licenses. The role handles a wide variety of transactions accurately and efficiently, and night and weekend shifts are required.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly, learn their names and make every interaction positive
• Weigh postal packages, run mail through meters and process certified, express, UPS, registered and insured mail
• Process Western Union orders and send faxes for customers
• Sell money orders and cash payroll, personal, ADC and social security checks
• Sell hunting and fishing licenses
• Process utility payments, sign on and off the postal register, count daily coupons and process refunds
• Operate lottery machines and sell and redeem lottery tickets
• Assist customers with dry cleaning and bottle refunds, and help at registers and other store areas
• Answer the telephone and use the intercom, remove trash and keep the work area clean
• Follow Hy-Vee policies, dress standards and hygiene rules, and report to work on time

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Over six months to one year of similar or related work experience preferred
• Able to solve practical problems and follow instructions in varied situations
• Ability to perform arithmetic with fractions, decimals and percentages
• Ability to guide customers and communicate clearly and professionally
• Physical ability to stand and walk frequently, and to use sharp knives and blades where applicable
