Crop Claims Specialist (RCIS) – Michigan

About the role

Zurich’s Rural Community Insurance Services (RCIS) is seeking a Crop Claims Specialist to join its team supporting farmers and ranchers across the United States. The role is remote but requires residence within 50 miles of Bay, Saginaw or Midland counties in Michigan.

Key responsibilities

• Exercise judgement to determine liability by gathering and analyzing relevant facts.
• Analyze policy coverage to verify eligibility and determine if losses fall within coverage.
• Participate in Risk Management Agency initiated reviews and referrals for operational integrity.
• Maintain confidentiality of claims information to protect Zurich’s reputation.
• Stay current with industry trends through education, networking and professional societies.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 4 years experience in agricultural or crop insurance.
• Obtain Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program (CAPP) certification within 180 days of hire.
• Personal transportation for travel within the assigned territory and occasional CAT team assignments.
• Physical ability to walk up to 3 miles in fields, climb storage bins up to 25 ft, lift 25‑50 lb, and work outdoors in varying weather.

Required skills

• Intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency.
