Critical Care Nurse – Direct Accession (U.S. Navy)

About the role

The U.S. Navy Nurse Corps is seeking experienced critical care nurses to join as commissioned officers. As a Direct Accession Critical Care Nurse you will deliver high‑acuity nursing care to service members, retirees and their families in medical‑surgical, trauma and expeditionary ICU settings worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive critical care to complex patients in ICU environments.
• Operate and manage ventilators, hemodynamic monitors, continuous renal replacement therapy and other advanced life‑support equipment.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in both inpatient and deployed settings.
• Mentor junior nurses and corpsmen, and potentially lead small nursing teams.
• Participate in disaster response, humanitarian missions and operational support as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program.
• Current, unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state or territory.
• 1–2 years recent critical care experience (ICU, CVICU, SICU, or equivalent).
• U.S. citizenship and ability to meet Navy physical, medical and security clearance standards.
• Maximum age generally under 41 at commissioning (waivers considered).
