Crisis Services Specialist – Region 6 Field Office

About the role

The Crisis Services Specialist supports individuals with behavioral health challenges across Region 6, ensuring timely access to state‑funded crisis services and coordinating care among multiple partners.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee regional crisis system coordination among GCAL, mobile crisis, law enforcement, hospitals, BHCC, CSU, SCB and state hospitals.
• Monitor placement reviews, transfers, and discharge planning to reduce readmissions.
• Identify and resolve bed board issues, working with providers, law enforcement, jails, EDs and courts.
• Build relationships with community hospitals for IDD individuals and collaborate with regional IDD and CYF staff to secure residential placements.
• Coordinate with law enforcement, jails, and EDs to ensure appropriate level of care and approve admissions to DD crisis homes.
• Provide training and technical assistance to providers and ensure adherence to crisis policies.
• Conduct site visits to state‑funded crisis providers and facilitate regional collaboration meetings.
• Address complaints, review trends, and develop solutions for community placement challenges.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Minimum four years of relevant experience, including at least one year in a lead or supervisory role.
• Independent licensure (LPC, LMFT, LCSW) preferred.
• Knowledge of behavioral health and developmental disability service models.
• Willingness to travel throughout the 31 counties of Region 6 and be on‑call after hours.
