Activity Therapist in Columbus

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking an Activity Therapist to join the West Central Georgia Regional Hospital team in Columbus. Under broad supervision, you will plan, direct, and coordinate therapeutic recreation programs that enhance patients' well‑being.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement activity programs including sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social events, and arts & crafts.
• Assess clients' conditions and recommend appropriate recreational activities.
• Maintain documentation of sessions and outcomes in compliance with agency standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation or a related therapeutic discipline from an accredited institution.
• Two years of relevant experience, or one year at the lower‑level Activity Therapist 2 position.
• Potential requirement for registration in the assignment area and compliance with licensing, vaccination, and screening policies.
