About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Courtesy Clerk in its Lakeville store. The role is an essential part of the customer experience, helping customers from the register to their car and keeping the store clean, stocked and welcoming. It is an hourly position in the General department, with no education or experience requirements and full training provided.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile, learn their names and make every visit a great one
• Package customer purchases and help them transport them to their mode of transportation
• Bring carts in from the parking lot and cart corrals during the shift
• Clean registers, restrooms, the break room and backroom, and sweep and mop floors as needed
• Clean the can redemption area and empty recycle bins where applicable
• Stock, face and rotate merchandise, clean shelves, read shelf tags and pull products forward to keep shelves full and organized
• Check prices on products as needed and maintain front-end supplies such as paper and plastic bags and receipt paper
• Train new courtesy clerks and deliver product to customers
• Assist in all departments as requested within wage and hour guidelines, shovel, salt and sand walkways, and take on special projects as assigned
• Follow Hy-Vee policies, dress standards and personal hygiene, report to work on time, and work as a team

Required profile

• No education or experience required; training is provided
• Able to follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables
• Able to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures and count and record accurately
• Able to follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing
• Team player who works well with co-workers
• Physical demands include frequent standing and walking, repetitive standing, walking, reaching and bending, and where applicable, using sharp knives and blades and exposure to heat and cleaning chemicals

What we offer

• Anticipated hourly starting wage of $13.00 to $16.25 depending on experience
• Training provided
• Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment drug screen
