Counsel Legal & Business Affairs – Litigation

About the role

Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. is seeking a Litigation Counsel to join its Legal and Business Affairs team. The role supports the VP of Litigation and the Chief Litigator in managing litigation, pre‑litigation matters, and internal investigations across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Review new lawsuits filed against MSG companies and develop strategic responses, including counterclaims, motions to dismiss, and jurisdictional arguments.
• Draft, review, and edit briefing documents throughout all litigation stages, from motions to dismiss to discovery and dispositive motions.
• Assess claim strength for potential lawsuits and conduct fact‑finding, including employee interviews and document analysis.
• Support subpoena analysis, document and video collection, and response preparation, both as a third‑party and as a party to a suit.
• Assist with government inquiries, internal investigations, ethics complaints, whistleblower escalations, and compliance matters.
• Prepare initial diligence and draft responses to discovery requests, subpoenas, and third‑party information requests.
• Monitor litigation developments and regularly report updates to senior litigation leadership.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience handling litigation matters, including pre‑litigation strategy and case management.
• Strong legal research and drafting abilities for motions, discovery requests, and briefing documents.
• Ability to analyze claims, assess evidence, and coordinate with internal stakeholders.
• Experience managing subpoenas, document production, and responding to government or regulatory inquiries.
• Effective communication skills for reporting litigation updates to senior leadership.
