Correctional Dentist (Coffield Unit)

About the role

The Correctional Dentist provides comprehensive dental care to the offender population at the Coffield Unit, a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility. Working under the Cluster Dental Director, you will deliver direct clinical services while adhering to UTMB Health policies and correctional security protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general dental examinations, preventive care, restorative procedures, and emergency treatments for inmates.
• Maintain accurate patient records and comply with internal controls and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with the UTMB Correctional Managed Care team to ensure high‑quality oral health services.
• Potentially provide dental services across multiple correctional facilities as needed.

Required profile

• Active Texas dental license.
• Current DEA controlled‑substance registration.
• Current BLS‑HP certification.
• Minimum two years of general clinical dental practice (preferred).
• Ability to obtain required security clearance and pass pre‑employment drug testing.
