Vocational Nurse (LVN) – Beto Unit

About the role

The Beto Unit is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to provide direct nursing care to incarcerated patients within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. This position involves delivering comprehensive nursing services in a secure correctional environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Perform admission, discharge, and transfer procedures and modify care plans under supervision.
• Administer medications, execute physician orders, and document all nursing activities accurately.
• Maintain patient privacy, follow infection‑control protocols, and ensure safe handling of equipment.
• Communicate changes in patient status to medical and nursing staff promptly.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited LVN program with a current Texas LVN license.
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS‑HP) certification.
• Ability to obtain security clearance and pass pre‑employment drug testing.
• No prior experience required; recent graduates with temporary permits are considered.
