Correctional Clinical Associate – Coffield Unit

About the role

The Correctional Clinical Associate (CCA) provides essential administrative, medical‑record, and materials‑management support within the Coffield Unit, a correctional healthcare facility operated by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. The role ensures accurate information flow, compliance with health policies, and safe handling of medical supplies in a secure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Enter and assimilate data using personal computers, generate reports, draft routine correspondence, and conduct special administrative analyses.
• Perform facility administrative tasks such as filing, mail handling, faxing, and typing.
• Maintain and track medical record charts, review records for completeness, and ensure compliance with policies and standard operating procedures.
• Receive, store, distribute, and inventory medical supplies—including narcotic‑based medicines—while managing requisitions, work orders, and returns of expired items.
• Execute medically delegated tasks under physician direction and RN supervision, following competency‑based orientation tools.
• Operate standard office equipment and electronic information systems to support daily operations.

Required profile

• At least one (1) year of experience in administrative support, medical, business, or a related field.
• Ability to work within a prison, jail, or juvenile detention center environment.
• Security clearance and pre‑employment drug testing are mandatory.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow internal controls and reporting structures.

Required skills

• Proficiency with personal computers and data‑entry systems.
• Experience handling standard office equipment.
• Knowledge of electronic information systems management and medical‑records processing.
