Controller – Build and Lead Accounting Function

About the role

Reflection is a research lab focused on open AI models. As Controller you will create the accounting function from scratch, overseeing close, reporting, tax, audit and internal controls for a high‑growth technology company.

Key responsibilities

• Own month‑end and quarter‑end close, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Lead technical accounting decisions including revenue recognition (ASC 606), equity (ASC 718), leases (ASC 842) and complex deal structures.
• Develop and execute global tax strategy, handling federal, state and international compliance.
• Manage the external audit process from planning to delivery.
• Build internal controls, financial reporting infrastructure and oversee AP, AR, payroll and treasury.
• Partner with legal on entity structure and transfer pricing, and grow the accounting and tax teams.

Required profile

• 7‑10+ years of finance and accounting experience, preferably in a high‑growth tech environment.
• CPA certification; Big 4 background strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to build an accounting function, including systems and processes.
• Experience with multi‑entity or multinational tax and transfer pricing.

Required skills

• ASC 606, ASC 718, ASC 842, ASC 360 technical accounting knowledge.
• CPA certification.
