About the role
The Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) seeks a consultant to provide substantive global follow‑up to the outcomes of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4). The role supports high‑quality analytical, research, drafting and coordination activities across illicit financial flows, financial integrity, sovereign debt and broader financing for development.
Key responsibilities
- Produce analytical research and draft reports for the Financing for Sustainable Development Office (FSDO), including contributions to the 2027 Financing for Sustainable Development Report.
- Support preparation of Secretary‑General reports and evidence‑base materials for the implementation of the Sevilla Commitment.
- Coordinate the Inter‑Agency Task Force reporting cycle and assist in organising the 2027 ECOSOC Special Meeting on Financial Integrity.
- Facilitate the convening of a working group on sovereign lending and borrowing principles and other FFD4 follow‑up processes.
Required profile
- Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in economics, finance, public policy or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in research, analysis and report drafting on international development financing.
- Familiarity with UN processes, inter‑agency coordination and the Sevilla Commitment framework.
- Strong written communication skills in English.
