Consultant - Data Management

About the role

The Department of Economic and Social Affairs seeks an experienced Data Management Consultant to lead the development of a fisheries data catalogue and related reporting tools. The assignment is home‑based, with regular virtual coordination with UN agencies and occasional in‑country visits.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare a concept note outlining methodology, schedule, and key actors (Output 1).
• Draft a fisheries data catalogue and profile report for review by INSEED and UNSD (Output 2).
• Present draft findings to stakeholders and incorporate feedback (Output 3).
• Deliver a final fisheries data catalogue, recommendations for standardising data collection, and identify a preferred platform for data management (Output 4).
• Produce a final progress report with steps to build national capacity for SDG 14.4.1 indicators (Output 5).

Required profile

• Proven experience in data management, preferably in fisheries or environmental statistics.
• Familiarity with Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 14.4.1.
• Ability to work independently, coordinate remotely with multiple UN partners, and travel for stakeholder meetings.
