Construction Superintendent I

About the role

Mortenson is looking for a Superintendent I to lead construction activities, coordinate assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft crews, and ensure projects stay on schedule while delivering excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and implement material, equipment, and inspection schedules to support the project timeline.
• Review construction and contract documents for completeness and constructability.
• Coordinate plans and specifications with design engineers and resolve discrepancies.
• Develop and manage three‑ and six‑week look‑ahead schedules and site logistics plans.
• Lead on‑site orientations, pre‑construction planning sessions, and project meetings.
• Supervise project partners, craft foremen, and crews; handle hiring, transfers, and dismissals as needed.
• Coach and mentor assistant superintendents and craft team members.
• Ensure accurate task coding on timecards, track productivity, and manage safety, quality, risk, and compliance.

Required profile

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management, or 10 years of trade experience.
• Minimum 5 years of construction management or related experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100%.
• Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Positive attitude, strong customer service focus, and ability to work with diverse teams.

Required skills

• Intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency.
