Assistant Superintendent – Construction

About the role

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Assistant Superintendent to coordinate and supervise subcontractors and craft teams within a specific construction discipline. The role focuses on managing labor, equipment, schedules, and ensuring quality and safety throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project labor, including craft workers and subcontractors, and monitor weekly labor reports.
• Review and approve craft worker certifications, trainings, and timecards.
• Coordinate on‑site operations, equipment, and schedule development with Project Managers.
• Support safety audits, observations, and quality control of self‑perform and subcontracted work.
• Oversee orientation, training, performance evaluation, and hiring/dismissal of craft workers.
• Verify quantity takeoffs, material management, and scope of work during the buyout process.
• Collaborate with equipment providers for cranes, trailers, trucks, and other site resources.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of construction management or related experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Completion of or interest in a Master, Journeyman, or Apprentice electrician program preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 100% and work on multiple complex projects.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Electrical circuitry knowledge or ability to become qualified.
