Clinical Technician – Heart Failure ICU

About the role

The Clinical Technician will work on the 10‑bed Heart Failure Intensive Care Unit at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, providing direct patient care under RN supervision during a day shift (7:00 am‑7:30 pm). This unit cares for adults with advanced heart failure, transplant candidates, and patients requiring complex cardiac support.

Key responsibilities

• Take vital signs, weight, and perform point‑of‑care testing.
• Assist patients with personal care, dressing changes, and removal of urinary Foley catheters.
• Apply and remove external monitoring devices and help maintain a clean, orderly patient environment.
• Report any abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings promptly to the supervising RN.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) obtained by hire.
• One year of recent full‑time patient‑care experience, or a nursing student with at least one completed clinical rotation.
• Physical ability to move and lift patients, stand and walk for extended periods.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Proficiency in taking vital signs and performing point‑of‑care testing.
• Experience with dressing changes and urinary catheter management.
• Ability to apply and remove external monitoring devices.
