Clinical Technician - Emergency Department

About the role

The Emergency Department at Fairview Hospital, a Level II Trauma Center, is seeking a night‑shift Clinical Technician to support patient care from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. The role involves direct interaction with patients, assisting the nursing team, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with basic patient care under RN supervision, including taking vital signs, weight, and performing point‑of‑care testing.
• Provide personal care assistance, change dressings, apply external monitoring devices, and remove urinary Foley catheters.
• Report abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to the RN promptly.
• Maintain patient rooms in a clean and orderly condition throughout the shift.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (required within the new‑hire period).
• At least one year of recent, full‑time patient‑care experience (military medical experience or recent nursing student clinical rotation may be considered).
• Ability to perform full‑body motion, lift patients, and stand/walk for extended periods.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Proficiency in measuring vital signs and patient weight.
• Experience with point‑of‑care testing and dressing changes.
• Skill in applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheters.
