About the role
The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is hiring a Clinical Psychologist to work at the Alton Mental Health Center, a forensic psychiatric hospital serving patients found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI) or Unfit to Stand Trial (UST).
Key responsibilities
- Administer, score, and interpret a variety of psychological tests and prepare comprehensive reports for court‑ordered privileges.
- Provide individual and group psychotherapy to mentally ill patients.
- Make diagnostic classifications and clarifications.
- Testify in criminal and court hearings regarding patient evaluations.
Required profile
- Licensed Clinical Psychologist with experience in forensic settings.
- Ability to work with NGRI and UST populations in a secure hospital environment.
- Strong written communication skills for report preparation and courtroom testimony.
Required skills
- Administration, scoring, and interpretation of psychological assessments.
- Conducting individual and group psychotherapy.
- Diagnostic formulation and clarification.
- Testifying in legal proceedings.
