Client Lifecycle Risk & Controls Associate

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Client Lifecycle Risk & Controls Associate to support a Tier 1 investment bank client in strengthening its US operations governance framework. The role will act as a central coordination point between Operations, Risk, Compliance and client‑facing teams, ensuring onboarding, account management, incident handling and control activities are executed consistently and in line with regulatory expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate client and account onboarding activities, including account opening, credit approvals and engagement with Risk, Compliance and client‑facing stakeholders.
• Provide oversight of operational processes such as client onboarding, periodic reviews, account maintenance, incident management and control remediation.
• Monitor operational issues, control weaknesses and process exceptions, ensuring timely escalation, tracking and resolution.
• Support execution and enhancement of risk and control frameworks, maintaining documentation, evidence collection and governance standards.
• Produce management information and reporting to support risk oversight, operational decision‑making and regulatory readiness.
• Facilitate cross‑functional collaboration between Operations, Risk, Compliance, Technology and Audit teams to address operational and regulatory challenges.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with 2‑4 years of experience in operational risk, controls, compliance, audit, financial crime, governance or operations leadership.
• Strong understanding of client onboarding, KYC, AML, sanctions screening, reference data and account maintenance processes.
• Proven experience managing incidents, control issues, remediation activities and action plans.
• Experience supporting internal audits, regulatory reviews and compliance assessments.
• Excellent analytical, stakeholder management and communication skills with ability to influence constructively.
• Experience working in global, matrixed organisations and driving process improvement or automation initiatives.
