Child Military and Family Life Counselor

About the role

Leidos is hiring licensed behavioral health professionals to join its Child and Youth Behavioral, Military and Family Life Counselor (CYB-MFLC) team supporting F.E. Warren near Cheyenne, Wyoming. The role provides non-medical, preventive counseling, consultation and outreach to eligible faculty, staff, parents, children and youth, helping military families adjust to military life. Work takes place mainly in Department of Defense-controlled child development centers (about 60% indoor, 40% outdoor).

Key responsibilities

• Work at installation Child Development Centers with children 0-5 and before or after-school care centers for school-aged children, youth and teens.
• Engage in activities with children and youth, coach and guide staff and parents, and model behavior management techniques.
• Give presentations on social skills development and social-emotional learning.
• Promote creativity and positivity through approved materials and build rapport with families by attending installation and community events.
• Help children adjust to changes such as a new school or a new home.
• Take part in in-service training and other contract activities, and share trends and issues with Team Leads.
• Additional duties may include responding to emergent situations and traveling to locations inside and outside the base, including uneven terrain and outdoor weather.

Required profile

• Master's degree or higher in the Behavioral Health Professions (MS/MSW/MA/PhD).
• Valid independent license in the mental health field (e.g., LCSW, MHC, MFT, LPCC, Psychologist).
• U.S. citizenship.
• Ability to pass a basic background check, a Child National Agency Check and a Public Trust (NACI/CNACI) clearance.
