Child and Youth Behavioral Military and Family Life Counselor

About the role

Leidos is hiring licensed behavioral health professionals to join its Child and Youth Behavioral, Military and Family Life Counselor (CYB-MFLC) team at Eielson, AK. The role provides non-medical, preventive counseling, consultation and outreach to eligible faculty, staff, parents, children and youth, helping military families cope with the stresses of military life. The work takes place at installation Child Development Centers (CDCs) with children aged 0-5 and before or after-school care centers.

Key responsibilities

• Work at CDCs with children 0-5 and school-age youth, engaging in activities and offering coaching, guidance and support to staff and parents
• Model behavior management techniques for staff and parents
• Give presentations on social skills development and social-emotional learning
• Promote creativity and positivity through approved materials
• Build rapport with parents and families by attending installation and community events
• Help children adjust to changes such as a new school or home
• Take part in in-service training and other contract activities, and share trends and issues with Team Leads
• Additional duties may include responding to emergencies and traveling to locations inside and outside the base, including uneven outdoor terrain

Required profile

• Master's degree or higher in the Behavioral Health Professions (MS, MSW, MA, PhD)
• Valid independent license in the mental health field (e.g., LCSW, MHC, MFT, LPCC, psychologist)
• U.S. citizenship
• Ability to pass a basic background check, a Child National Agency Check and a Public Trust (NACI/CNACI) clearance
• For SOCOM positions, extra clearances are required
