Chief Physicist

About the role

The Chief Physicist leads the regional medical physics and dosimetry programs for Lehigh Valley Health Network, ensuring top‑quality, safe, and innovative radiation oncology care across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical, operational, and strategic leadership for medical physics and dosimetry staff, including training, orientation, and mentorship.
• Develop, maintain, and enforce department policies, procedures, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Oversee radiation safety processes, maintain licenses for radioactive material and medical accelerators, and ensure a safe work environment.
• Coordinate acceptance, commissioning, and training for new equipment and software.
• Participate in treatment planning, collaborating with physicians and dosimetrists to develop optimal patient plans.
• Conduct quality assurance testing, equipment calibration, and maintain thorough documentation.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Medical Physics or equivalent with at least 5 years of clinical experience.
• Board certification (Therapeutic Medical Physics or Radiation Oncology Physics) upon hire.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative, collegiate environment.
• Strong clinical, research, and educational ambitions.
