Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO)

About the role

The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) serves as the senior HR executive for Texas A&M International University, advising the Vice President for Finance & Administration and the CFO on all human capital matters. The role provides visionary leadership to attract, develop, engage, and retain a high‑performing workforce while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Member of the Vice President for Finance & Administration leadership team, shaping workforce strategy and organizational effectiveness.
• Lead enterprise‑wide workforce planning, change management, and organizational design initiatives.
• Oversee compensation strategy, classification, recruitment, retention, and employer branding.
• Drive HR technology modernization, including HRIS upgrades, workflow automation, and AI‑assisted HR tools.
• Develop and implement the University Workforce Strategic Plan and succession planning programs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with at least ten years of progressive HR leadership experience.
• Five years leading professional HR staff and experience in compensation, organizational development, and change management.
• Preferred master’s degree and experience in higher education, especially within the Texas A&M System.
• Professional HR certification (HRCI, SHRM‑SCP, or SPHR) is a plus.
