About the role

The Chancellor serves as the chief executive of LSU New Orleans, overseeing all academic, research, and administrative functions. Reporting to the LSU System President, the Chancellor is responsible for advancing the university’s mission as a public R2 research institution in a vibrant urban environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership to enhance education, research, and public service across the campus.
• Drive fundraising, partnership development, and economic impact initiatives that benefit the state and the New Orleans community.
• Oversee budgetary planning, financial stewardship, and compliance with system policies.
• Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in faculty, staff, and student recruitment and retention.
• Represent LSU New Orleans to external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and community organizations.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in higher education, preferably at a research‑intensive university.
• Demonstrated success in managing large, complex organizations and multi‑billion‑dollar budgets.
• Strong record of advancing research excellence and securing external funding.
• Ability to build consensus among faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
